How to do bone cement surgery

Empowering lives through health.
Bone cement injection surgery is also called vertebroplasty. The patient is in prone position, and then X-ray machine is used to locate the segment to be operated. The scope of operation is routinely disinfected and sterile towel is spread. Local anesthetic is prepared at the location for local anesthesia. Then the working sleeve puncture needle is taken and obliquely advanced along the right vertebral pedicle of the fractured vertebral body. Repeated fluoroscopy is needed to locate the working sleeve in the vertebral pedicle. Finally, the working sleeve is positioned into the vertebral body. A small amount of anesthetic is injected into the vertebral body. After the expansion balloon is pressurized, the vertebral body is reset. The bone cement is prepared and driven into the vertebral body with a special tool. During the injection process, the distribution of the bone cement needs to be checked by fluoroscopy to prevent the bone cement from being exposed into the spinal canal and causing nerve damage. After the bone cement is completely filled in the vertebral body, pull out the working sleeve and press to stop bleeding. Continue to lie prone for ten minutes to wait for the bone cement to harden. Finally, the operation is completed.
