The most common pathogens of acute upper respiratory tract infection

Restoring balance, one patient at a time.
Acute upper respiratory tract infections are caused by viruses.
Influenza viruses, parainfluenza viruses, respiratory syncytial viruses, adenoviruses, rhinoviruses, echoviruses, coxsackieviruses, measles viruses and rubella viruses are the most common pathogens. Influenza viruses are the most common. These viruses can be transmitted to the surrounding population through airborne transmission such as coughing and sneezing.
Please note that in addition to viruses, acute upper respiratory tract infections can also be caused by bacteria, but viral infections are much more common than bacterial infections. Therefore, when treating acute upper respiratory tract infections, doctors usually choose the appropriate treatment plan based on the patient's symptoms and possible pathogens.
