How to treat disc herniation

In milder cases, patients with disc herniation can be treated conservatively. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be used under the guidance of a doctor to relieve pain. Chlorzoxazone can also be used to relieve muscle spasms. Traction can be used to reduce nerve root irritation and compression. If the patient does not respond well to pain medication, nerve root block therapy can be used. Glucocorticoids can be injected near the nerve root to relieve inflammation and pain. If conservative treatment fails, life is affected, significant nerve involvement, unilateral muscle atrophy, or muscle decline occurs, the patient should also be admitted for surgical treatment.
