Esophageal injury refers to tissue rupture or injury caused by various reasons.
Common causes of esophageal injury include swallowing foreign bodies, swallowing bones, swallowing chemicals, etc. Foreign bodies or substances may irritate, damage or tear esophageal tissue, causing pain, bleeding and other discomfort symptoms. Long-term acid reflux may also cause acidic stimulation of esophageal mucosa, causing esophageal inflammation and ulcer formation. Severe acid reflux may also cause esophageal stricture, ulcer bleeding, and even increase the risk of esophageal cancer.
Patients with esophageal injury are advised to go to hospital for treatment and pay attention to light diet during recovery.
