Five tumor markers

The five tumor markers are CEA, AFP, CA 125, CA 19 - 9 and PSA. 1. CEA may be elevated in a variety of malignant tumors, such as colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, lung cancer, etc., but it is not its specific index. Some benign diseases such as inflammation may also lead to a slight increase in CEA. 2. AFP is closely related to liver cancer and is one of the important indicators for diagnosis of liver cancer. However, there will be a high level of AFP in fetal period, and AFP may also increase in pregnant women. 3. Carbohydrate antigen 125 is often significantly elevated in ovarian cancer patients, but it can also be seen in other gynecological diseases and some non-gynecological malignant tumors and benign diseases. For female patients, if carbohydrate antigen 125 is significantly elevated, further screening of ovarian cancer and other diseases is needed. 4. Carbohydrate antigen 199 is closely related to pancreatic cancer, cholangiocarcinoma and other digestive system tumors. However, it is not an absolute specific indicator, and some digestive tract inflammation may also cause its elevation. 5. Prostate specific antigen is important for the diagnosis of prostate cancer, but its level is also affected by benign lesions such as prostate hyperplasia. PSA detection combined with other tests is very important for early detection of prostate cancer. The detection of five tumor markers is only one of the auxiliary diagnostic methods, and cannot be relied on alone to diagnose tumors. The results need to be comprehensively analyzed and judged in combination with clinical history, physical examination, imaging examination, etc., and further pathological examination is needed if necessary to confirm the diagnosis. At the same time, for tumor patients, regular monitoring of the changes in these markers is also of great significance for evaluating the treatment effect and monitoring recurrence.
