Astigmatism and myopia can be corrected.
Astigmatism is caused by different refractive powers of the eyeball on different meridians, so that light cannot form a focus on the retina after refraction. Myopia is caused by too long an axis or too large a curvature of the lens, so that light can be refracted in front of the retina. Both are refractive errors. Patients with mild to moderate astigmatism can be corrected by wearing glasses and corneal contact lenses or laser surgery. Patients with severe astigmatism and myopia can be corrected by intraocular lens implantation
