Floaters in one eye may be related to age-related changes in vitreous body, vitreous hemorrhage, vitreous opacity, etc.
1. Age-related changes in vitreous body
As vitreous liquefaction progresses, its collagen stability gradually decreases and clumps are produced. If light entering the eye is blocked, patients may develop floaters.
2. Vitrous hemorrhage
retinal tears, retinal vasculitis, hypertension, etc. may cause bleeding. When blood enters the vitreous body, patients may develop floaters due to clumps in the visual field.
3.
Inflammatory changes in adjacent tissues of vitreous body may cause vitreous opacity. Innate residual tissues in vitreous body may also cause vitreous opacity, thus causing floaters.
