Principle of pulse feeling in traditional Chinese medicine

Empowering lives through health.
1. Pulse reflects the circulation of qi and blood. Pulse beats are closely related to the circulation of qi and blood. TCM believes that qi and blood are important material basis for maintaining human life activities. When qi and blood circulate smoothly, pulse usually appears gentle and vigorous. When qi and blood circulation is not smooth or abnormal, the pulse will change accordingly. For example, deficiency of qi and blood may lead to weak pulse, qi stagnation and blood stasis may cause astringent pulse, etc. 2. Embodiment of zang-fu functions The functional states of various zang-fu organs of the human body will also be reflected on the pulse. Different pulse characteristics can indicate the pathological changes of corresponding zang-fu organs. For example, the left cun pulse reflects the function of the heart, and the right guan pulse reflects the state of the spleen and stomach. When the zang-fu organs are dysfunctional or sick, abnormal pulse conditions will appear at the corresponding pulse positions. 3. Embodiment of the concept of the whole. Traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes that the human body is an organic whole, and pulse conditions not only reflect local pathological changes, but also are comprehensive manifestations of the overall physiological and pathological state of the human body. Through pulse analysis, we can understand the balance of yin and yang, the ups and downs of qi and blood, and the conflict between qi and evil, so as to provide basis for diagnosis and treatment.
