Committed to your health journey.
The operation process of gastric tube extubation includes posture preparation, cleaning hands, relaxing gastric tube, aspirating gastric juice, and extubation.
1. Position preparation
Patients need to take a comfortable position, usually semi-sitting or supine.
2. Clean hands
Medical staff need to clean hands and wear gloves to reduce the chance of infection.
3. Relax gastric tube
Medical staff should gently rotate and move gastric tube to ensure that gastric tube is not stuck to stomach tissue.
4. aspirate gastric juice
Medical staff should gently aspirate gastric juice from gastric tube with syringe to reduce discomfort during extubation.
5. Remove gastric tube
Medical staff should slowly remove gastric tube while observing patient's reaction. Patients can take deep breath or swallow to help relieve discomfort.
