H. pylori infection can be diagnosed by breath test, rapid urease test and stool H. pylori antigen test.
1. Breath test
breath test is a non-invasive test that detects H. pylori antigen in exhaled air.
2. Rapid urease test
During gastroscopy, doctors place a small piece of paper with urea and an indicator in the patient's stomach to check whether the child is infected with H. pylori. If H. pylori is present, the urease in the bacteria will decompose the urea to produce acid, which will change the color of the paper.
3. Fecal H. pylori antigen test
can determine whether H. pylori infection is present by collecting stool samples from children and detecting the presence of H. pylori antigen in stool.
