The normal range of blood pressure in 70-year-old people is systolic pressure 90-139mmHg and diastolic pressure 60-89mmHg.
Blood pressure is the lateral pressure produced by blood flow in blood vessels. Exercise, emotional agitation and smoking in 70-year-old people may cause transient increase in blood pressure. If it does not exceed the above range, it is normal. General physiological transient increase in blood pressure does not require special treatment and may return to normal after eliminating the cause. If systolic pressure exceeds 140mmHg and diastolic pressure is normal, simple systolic hypertension is considered. If systolic blood pressure is normal but diastolic blood pressure exceeds 90mmHg, simple diastolic hypertension is considered.
