What is the role of adrenal glands?

Restoring health, restoring hope.
Histologically, adrenal gland is divided into adrenal cortex and adrenal medulla: 1. Adrenal cortex secretes mineralocorticoid, glucocorticoid and sex hormone, mineralocorticoid is mainly aldosterone, glucocorticoid is mainly cortisol, sex hormone is mainly androgen and a small amount of estrogen;2. Adrenal medulla mainly secretes adrenaline and noradrenaline. These hormones are of great significance to the maintenance of normal vital signs, stress response and sexual function of human body. Thus, if the adrenal cortex or medulla exhibits neoplastic or hyperplastic disease, it causes uncontrolled secretion of these hormones, resulting in a series of diseases; if aldosterone secretion is increased, it causes aldosteronism, cortisol secretion is increased, cortisol secretion is increased, and adrenaline or noradrenaline secretion is increased, which can be manifested in pheochromocytomas.
