Bladder diverticulum is an area of the bladder wall that protrudes or bulges to form a sac-like structure.

Bladder diverticulum is usually caused by a weakness or defect in the muscularis of the bladder wall, usually located at the top or side wall of the bladder. Bladder diverticulum can be divided into congenital and secondary types. Congenital bladder diverticulum is present at birth and may be due to abnormalities in the bladder wall during embryonic development. Secondary bladder diverticulum occurs after birth and is usually associated with gradual thinning or damage to the muscle layer of the bladder wall, such as long-term bladder urination disorders, bladder muscle dysfunction, etc.
