What causes pancreatic heterotopia

Restoring health, one step at a time.
Ectopic pancreas may be caused by factors such as embryonic pancreatic tissue migration, endoderm cell differentiation, and endothelial tissue metaplasia.
1. Embryonic pancreatic tissue migration
During congenital development, pancreatic precursor cells are affected by adverse factors and cannot migrate correctly to normal locations. Ectopic pancreas occurs.
2. Differentiation of endoderm cells
Endoderm cells are pluripotent and can differentiate into various cell types in the body. When endothelial tissue abnormally metaplasia occurs in other parts, ectopic pancreas can occur.
3. Endothelial tissue metaplasia
During congenital development, endothelial tissue fails to migrate normally to the submucosa and transform into pancreatic tissue, which can lead to ectopic pancreas.
